Andrew Goodall

Beyond ACL Co-Founder & Physiotherapist

Andrew is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist, with a specific interest in knee injuries. He sees a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and has extensive experience with cases ranging from hip and knee replacement to complex polytrauma after road traffic accidents and more common injuries such as strains and sprains. Due to his past experience working in Rugby and Football the bulk of his caseload is hip, knee and ankle pathology, and he enjoys working with anything from your everyday injury to helping athletes get back to their sport. Alongside Strength & Conditioning Coach, James Phillips, Andrew hosts an international course teaching physiotherapists and healthcare professionals how to optimise their management of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. He also co-authored a scientific research study, conducted at Pure Sport Medicine, predicting outcomes in ACL injuries, and he is regularly invited to speak at events and conferences such as Therapy Expo, the Surrey Knee Meeting, and has hosted a number of live and recorded training sessions for health care professionals.

James Phillips

Co-Founder of Beyond ACL & Strength and Conditioning Coach

James has been a Strength and Conditioning coach for over 10 years developing his knowledge, experience & coaching eye within the sporting world & healthcare. Having started out in the elite sporting environments of Saracens Rugby Club, English Institute of Sport and finally with British Fencing, he turned his career towards healthcare and end stage rehabilitation. James’ is highly skilled in force plate testing following injury and for performance, experienced in developing physical performance in the endurance athlete and holistic training for the active individual. Co-Founder of ‘The Complete ACL Rehab Course’ alongside Andrew Goodall, James has become a leading expert in ACL end stage rehabilitation and return to performance. Rehabilitating a cohort of patients ranging from the conservative recreational athlete to the complex multi-ligament injury. Now awaiting a recent publication researching outcomes within ACL injury and has contributed towards the performance research in Fencing. James has a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strength and Conditioning (2012) at Middlesex University and a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Sport Science and Maths (2010) from Loughborough University. Having run for club, university and county at 800m, James now enjoys (attempting) to reduce his golf handicap and to keep holistically fit, strong & healthy. Outside of sport, he has a love for good wine with good food.
